esp_flash_write() questions

I'm writing a data logger and would like to save the data to the internal flash as often as possible (in the case of power failure) but I don't want to prematurely wear out the internal flash. Now I'm aware that esp_flash_erase_region() requires erasing a full page at a time (4096 bytes), but when w...

Re: app_main and task core pinning

Thank-you for the link :) That clears everything up. Perhaps in a future release having a task delete itself upon function return would make sense. It doesn't break any existing functionality, and would make things more intuitive IMO. But either way its a minor issue, and I can just use vTaskDelete(...

app_main and task core pinning

Is app_main guaranteed to always be run on pro cpu? The docs seem to suggest this (https://docs.espressif.com/projects/esp-idf/en/latest/esp32/api-guides/general-notes.html) but doesn't explicitly state this. I was going to look at the functions start_cpu0 and start_cpu1, but they are not actually i...

Re: Getting Intellisense working with VC++ (not code)

I've never been able to get the Visual Code extension to work. No matter how many times I've set it up, fresh installs, playing with directories, whatever, it always fails. I also hate Visual Code, so there's that too... Visual Micro alluded to something in the works, so I'm hoping they come us with...

Getting Intellisense working with VC++ (not code)

I have an ESP32 project that's getting on the larger side. I use the ESP-IDF and build from the command prompt atm, but I'm using Visual Studio 2019 for editing (not Visual Code). I don't like Visual Code and would prefer to keep using VC++ but as the project gets larger, its becoming more cumbersom...

Re: Build fails with no error code

I've tried using the VSCode extension but was never able to get it to work. I'm just using the standard python build script (idf.py) from a command prompt, and this has worked fine for a number of smaller projects. They built fine, errors reported fine, uploaded and ran fine. Its just this last proj...

Build fails with no error code

Using the ESP IDF v4.1-beta2. I have a build that is failing with the error: ninja: build stopped: subcommand failed. ninja failed with exit code 1 I can't find a relevant log file for the build, and without an error I'm unsure as to how to proceed. Any suggestions on where to start would be appreci...

Re: ESP-NOW specifics [WIFI-2245]

I appreciate the response. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but in STA+AP mode (WIFI_MODE_APSTA) the station and AP can be on different channels correct? If so, perhaps have ESP-NOW use the AP channel (which we have direct control over)?

Re: ESP-NOW specifics [WIFI-2245]

Its not quite clear in the documentation how ESP-NOW and WiFi access are supposed to work, when they are both being used at the same time. The biggest issue is WiFi channel selection. When setting up ESP-NOW you are required to supply a WiFi channel. So if I wanted to setup a simple ESP-NOW sensor n...

Re: ESP-NOW specifics [WIFI-2245]

I wish this was documented more clearly, and I'd like to know if they intend for WiFi and ESP-NOW to work together, and if so what we need to do pre and post WiFi connection.
