Re: Technical Reference Chapter 4 is confusing

Hi clarkster, Thanks for pointing all this out. 1. The chapter often refers to bits and fields of registers but doesn't say what register the bit or field is in. This should be able to be found by searching the 4.13 Registers section. 2. Register names, bit names, and field names often don't match t...

Re: Memory consumption of bluetooth is enormous

any thoughts on what 'lowest possible values' might mean or how one might go about determining them? Regarding this item: If you are using wifi then in menuconfig->wifi start with the lowest settings, it gives another 30-ish kB (by default settings are setup very high) Each of these numeric config ...

Re: Configuring the Brownout for when VDD3P3_RTC is fed 1.8v

I'm sorry, I think this is a mistake in the datasheet. As per the footnote 1 to table 5.1, this range is only valid for the VDD_SDIO pin & associated power domain.

I've asked my colleagues to confirm, will get back to you.

Re: CPU cores seem to lock up on dport access

Hi Oromis, There are a few places where a CPU has to make an access from DPORT memory (the most common during normal operation is hardware crypto acceleration). Due to a silicon bug we have to ensure the other CPU is not doing anything while the DPORT access takes place (hence all the fuss around &q...

Re: How to increase number of records in heap_tracing buffer heap_trace_record_t?

Hi Nayana, The buffer is allocated in the application code which initialises & enables heap tracing. If you look at the example in the docs (scroll down a small way from the linked heading), you'll see there is a macro NUM_RECORDS which is used for the size of the "trace_record" array ...

Re: Configuring the Brownout for when VDD3P3_RTC is fed 1.8v

ESP team, I am developing a 1.8v ESP32-D2WD board. The entire digital domain: VDD3P3_RTC, VDD3P3_CPU, and VDD_SDIO are powered from 1.8v  Looking into the menuconfig and the Technical Ref Manual 2.8, the brownout has a 3-bit (eight settings). However, it is centered around 2.5v. It is not ...

Re: Unable to separate wifi and SPI?

Hi nathan, Uninitialized memory bugs can be hard to pin down because they can result in all kinds of weird behaviour. But there is a hint in the log here: E (249) spi_master: spi_device_queue_trans(656): rxdata transfer > host maximum If you grep for this error message in IDF, you'll find it in spi_...

Re: ESP32 Minimum Hardware

Hi zhivko, If you plan use a ESP32-WROOM module, then the ESP32 WROOM datasheet section 7 "Peripheral Schematics" shows what you're after: Get it from here: http://espressif.com/en/support/download/documents (Plus JTAG, but you can leave this off.) If you plan to use a bare ESP32 chip dire...

Hi Electromania,

Please don't post the exact same thing in multiple places at the same time.

I've replied to you on the Github issue you opened: https://github.com/espressif/esptool/issues/263

Re: OTA -- How to Compute SHA256 of the running firmware?

Yes, either esp_partition_read() or esp_partition_mmap() will allow you to do this. As it happens, in recent versions of IDF (v3.0 prereleases) a SHA-256 of most of the .bin file is appended to it and verified by the bootloader to detect corruption. I've added a feature request to add a function to ...
