Re: How do we get the packets that are not sent to local device from the application layer through the promiscuous mode?

Can application layer get packets that are not sent to the local deviece? If application layer can,how to achive? Only via the promiscuous mode. To push these to the application layer (ie via the TCP/IP stack) would break the TCP/IP model. If you need to send data to multiple devices on the network...

Re: void (* wifi_promiscuous_cb_t)(void *buf, wifi_promiscuous_pkt_type_t type);"buf" point "Statitx Rx buffer" or "dyna

Hi jason,

It's a WiFi dynamic RX buffer pointed to in the callback.

Please note that no guarantees are made about the continued validity of this buffer after the callback function returns. If you want to store the data for later use, copy it to a local buffer under your control.

Re: use (swap) static IRAM for static DRAM

Hi dav, The IRAM_ATTR attribute which places code into IRAM can also be used to place static variables in IRAM: http://esp-idf.readthedocs.io/en/latest/api-guides/general-notes.html#iram-instruction-ram You can also dynamically allocate from IRAM by using function calls like heap_caps_malloc(MALLOC_...

Re: What version of FreeRTOS do I have...?

Hi mzimmers, ESP-IDF uses FreeRTOS V8.2.0 with some features from FreeRTOS V9.0.0 backported to it. The documentation has more details: http://esp-idf.readthedocs.io/en/latest/api-guides/freertos-smp.html We're hoping to update to FreeRTOS V10 in the future. If you're looking for a ringbuffer featur...

Re: FreeRTOS alternatives

Zephyr and NuttX both have some level of ESP32 support.

There is work in progress internally to make the WiFi & Bluetooth libraries easier to integrate into different RTOSes, via an abstraction layer. We're keen to see third party RTOSes work well on ESP32. :)

Re: Precompile ESP32 core

There isn't really anything like this at the moment, however if you keep the "build" directory between builds then nothing unchanged should be recompiled on a second "make" unless you change config (which requires everything to be recompiled, with the new config settings). The ot...

Re: Questions regarding flash encryption and Secure Boot

Hi Yuriy, It looks like the GUI download tool is a little enthusiastic in setting the flash speed/size bytes in the bootloader binary header, even when the bootloader is encrypted not plaintext. I've lodged a bug internally about this. (esptool.py does some basic sanity checks before changing the mo...

Re: Questions regarding flash encryption and Secure Boot

Hi Yuriy,

It looks like the flash mode & flash size bytes of the encrypted image have been written as plaintext values. This shouldn't happen, and it may be a bug in the tool you used to flash. What tool and options did you use to write bootloader-encrypted.bin?

Re: Questions regarding flash encryption and Secure Boot

I write the firmware and bootloader, in the terminal I see how the bootloader encrypts the memory. Next, I overwrite the firmware file and the table file in encrypted form. Everything is working. To encrypt the bootloader file, I use the command $python /home/osboxes/esp/esp-idf/components/esptool_...

Re: Questions regarding flash encryption and Secure Boot

Hi I have a small question about rewriting the bootloader. So I use the pregenerated key, I quietly encrypt and rewrite the firmware. But I can not re-write the bootloader, even in encrypted form. Why can not I overwrite the bootloader with an encrypted file? If you don't have secure boot enabled, ...
