esp-wrover recomended footprint

Postby adilburak » Mon Jan 04, 2021 4:49 pm

Can you confirm the recommended pad sizes for the wrover module.
Data sheet calls out for 2x.9mm pads.
These pads on the main board will overlap the module pads extending into the module.
This overlap lands the pads onto vias and ground planes on the module causing shorts.

Look at the bottom of the module, the vias nearby do not have exposed copper. Follow the recommended footprint you should be fine. I guess if you were really concerned you could make them 1.35mm instead of 2mm (.85mm under module plus .5mm extending out from module). But generally the manufacturer's guidelines are the best starting point.
