BLE Range

Postby mickio » Fri May 07, 2021 2:24 pm

Hey there. I am up for an environmental sensing project. The idea is to BLE-enable different sensors with an esp32-WROOM module and collect the broadcasted sensor data with a raspberry pi as a BLE central and gateway to the cloud. When testing the BLE capabilities of an esp32 development kit C board I found, that I received the BLE signals with my android smartphone in a distance of not even 1m with a signal strength of less than -90db. The connection got lost at a distance of only 2m.

Is there a way to enlarge the BLE range?

I am using micropython as a code base for my project.

Cheers mickio
