ESP32 crashes when connecting to LiPo

Postby paz0ok » Sat May 08, 2021 11:21 am

Hi there,
I am building a Bluetooth Macropad with a esp32.
I first build everything on a breadboard and it worked just fine. After I soldered everything together, the controller want boot properly. The onboard LED is continously blinking and the board dose not show up on my PC as bluetooth device.
If I connect it to the USB Port, everything is working just fine.
So I thought it might short out, but I can not find how.
The LiPo has 3.7V and deliveres on full charge ~4.12V. It is hocked up the the esp 5V Pin and ground of the Charging Board to ground next to GIOP 23.
I have now desoldered ground and 5V to test it on the top side and it happens on every ground.

Here is a video of the issue: https://imgur.com/a/sR4pfHb

Can someone help me here?

You have to supply >=5v to the 5v pin in order for it to regulate the 3.3v properly. you might get away with as low as 4-4.6v but a directly connected LiPo is no going to work.
