Battery-powered ESP32-S3

Postby hussain_dawoodi » Thu May 12, 2022 7:12 am

What is the best way to use the ESP32-S3 with a battery?

There are some components/ICs in our design which will only work with a VCC supply range of 3-3.6V.
The estimated average current draw is 250mA.

So far, the possible solutions that we have found are -

1) LiFePo4 3.2V 10Ah pouch style battery, TP5100 3.6V charging IC, AP9101-ASTRG1 3.2V battery protection IC with 8205A MOSFET IC.
2) 4 Li-ion 3.7V 2.6Ah 18650 cells connected in parallel (1S4P), TP4056 4.2V charging IC, DW01A 3.7V battery protection IC with 8205A MOSFET IC.

Charging inputs for both solutions will be taken from a USB type C connector providing a 5V supply.
The battery outputs for both solutions will be given to an LTC3440 buck-boost converter to provide a 3.3V output.

Please provide the best suitable circuit or schematic for a battery-powered system for the ESP32-S3.

G'day,
One year after your post, I am searching for the same. Have you found a good working solution?
Currently I use a TP5000 charger and a mechanical switch to change between charger and ESP32 but this solution isn't practical.
Any comments are much appreciated.
Thanks!
