How to use Arduino libraries for TSL2591 in IDF?

I want to use a TSL2591 but unfortunately failed to find an IDF library. But I found an Arduino library and corresponding sample code which reads the TSL2591 sensor data successfully when used in Arduino. So I thought I just can use the Arduino library code inside of IDF. I found this discussion which unfortunately does not have a detailed description how to get this done.

Would be great to get a link to detailed instructions how to use arduino code inside of idf
