Can ESP read a SIM Card

1. Hi, I was wondering if the ESP can support ISO 7816 protocol, for read a SIM Card. I have seen that some design use SIM800L, but I cannot use it in my design, my intention is to establish a direct communication between the esp32 and the SIM Card
